Online Python compiler — write, run & learn Python
Run real Python 3 right here in your browser. Your program can ask for input(), draw with turtle and plot charts — and nothing is uploaded, so it's private and fast.
- Interactive input()
- Turtle graphics
- matplotlib charts
- Stop endless loops
- Share links
- Works on phones
Why this Python compiler is different
Most online Python compilers send your code to a server, run it in a queue and send back the text. Coding Python runs the real CPython interpreter inside your browser instead — which unlocks things server compilers can't do.
input() that really waits
Your program pauses at every input() and waits for you to type — just like a terminal. No pre-filling a "stdin" box before you run.
Turtle graphics
import turtle works. Spirals, stars, houses and fractal trees are drawn on a canvas you can save as PNG.
Charts with matplotlib
Import matplotlib (or numpy) and it's installed on the fly; plt.show() displays the chart under your code.
Stop any program
Wrote while True: by accident? Press Stop — the interpreter runs in a background worker, so the page never freezes.
Private by design
Your code never leaves your device. It's autosaved in your browser, and share links keep the code in the URL itself.
Learn as you code
When you're stuck, step through the program in the visualizer or let the syntax checker explain the error in plain English.
How to run Python code online
- Write or paste your code. Type in the editor, pick a program from Examples, or open a .py file.
- Press Run. Click Run or press Ctrl+Enter. The first run downloads Python (a few seconds); after that it starts instantly.
- Answer input() prompts. When your program calls
input(), a box appears under the output — type your answer and press Enter. - See drawings and charts. Turtle drawings appear in the Turtle tab and matplotlib charts in Plots.
- Save or share. Download main.py, or click Share link to copy a URL that contains your code.

Compared using each site's free version in October 2026. Server compilers are better when you need packages Pyodide doesn't include or long-running jobs; for learning and everyday snippets, running in the browser is faster and private. More detail: the best online Python compilers compared.
What is a Python compiler?
Strictly, Python is interpreted: CPython first compiles your code to bytecode and then its virtual machine runs that bytecode, all in one step. When people say "Python compiler" they mean a tool that takes Python source and runs it — which is exactly what this page does, using the same CPython interpreter you would install from python.org, compiled to WebAssembly.
What can't it do?
Because it runs in a browser sandbox, programs can't open desktop windows (tkinter, pygame), make arbitrary network requests or read files from your computer. Packages with C extensions only work if Pyodide provides them — numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scipy and many more do. Very heavy computations are slower than native Python.

Frequently asked questions
Is this online Python compiler free?
Yes. The compiler, exercises, games and tools are free with no sign-up and no usage limits.
Which Python version does it run?
A recent Python 3 release (CPython compiled to WebAssembly by the Pyodide project). The exact version is printed if you run import sys; print(sys.version).
Can I use input() in the online compiler?
Yes. When your program calls input(), it pauses and a text box appears under the output. Type your answer and press Enter; press Ctrl+D to send end-of-input.
Does Python turtle work online here?
Yes. import turtle works, and the drawing appears in the Turtle tab. For a turtle-first layout with drawing examples, use Python turtle online.
Can I install packages like numpy or pandas?
Yes for packages that Pyodide provides — numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scipy, scikit-learn, sympy and many more are installed automatically when you import them. Packages that need native code Pyodide doesn't ship are not available.
Is my code saved or uploaded?
Your code is saved in your browser's local storage so it's there when you return. It is never uploaded; even share links keep the code inside the URL.
Why does the first run take a few seconds?
The first run downloads the Python interpreter (about 10 MB, cached afterwards). Later runs start almost instantly.
My program froze — what do I do?
Press Stop. Python runs in a background worker, so Stop ends it immediately, even inside an endless loop.
Can I run Python on my phone?
Yes — this page works in mobile Chrome and Safari. For a full phone IDE, install the free Python Coding - Learn Python app for Android.
